My name is Taylor Richardson, the owner of Affirmations! Pregnancy Wellness & Birth Coaching LLC and mother of two awesome boys! I first want to start off by saying congratulations and welcome to motherhood. If you are reading this you are probably excited and maybe a little nervous about becoming a mother. Well guess what, you are not the only woman to feel that way! Finding out you are pregnant can leave you overwhelmed by so many different emotions it is hard to sort through them all. I am here to tell you how empowering the journey into motherhood is. The transformation a woman’s body goes through and her natural ability to create life is a beautiful thing.
My mission at Affirmations is to help women feel powerful throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I do this by providing physical, mental, and emotional support to the mother. During our time together, I will be completely unbiased and support your decision. This is your pregnancy and you deserve to be heard. I think many women lose sight of that, and succumb to the opinion of people closest to them. I will also be by your side to coach you through the entire birthing process. By the end of it, I hope that you feel empowered by what your body has accomplished. I will even help you navigate through your postpartum period and motherhood, whether you are a new mom or a veteran. I also hope that by taking this journey together, we will create a lasting bond!

FAQs
Q: What is a Doula?
The word doula is a Greek word meaning, “handmaiden, or female servant”. A doula’s role is to provide physical and emotional support to a woman throughout pregnancy and childbirth. Doula typically have specialized training that help mothers have a positive experience. .
Q: So, doulas are like midwives?
No. Doulas do not have medical training therefore are not medical professionals. Midwives have been to nursing school, and studied midwifery. They provide prenatal care and deliver babies. A doula is simply a support person.
Q: Who can use a doula?
Anyone can use a doula! Whether a woman wants a natural birth or medicated one, to birth at home or in a hospital, vaginal birth or cesarean section. Even stillbirth, miscarriage, abortion, adoption, or surrogate. A doulas duty is to be unbiased and supportive in every situation.
Q: I already had a baby, can I still hire a doula?
Absolutely! Doulas provide many benefits for all expectant mothers. Doulas have been linked to shorter birthing times, less requests for epidural, and reduced risk for cesarean section. Doulas can also provide support for the family.
Q: I have heard so many negative birth stories. What can I do to think about birth in a more positive way?
Childbirth does not have to be a painful, or difficult experience. Hiring a doula gives you an advantage to changing your perspective on birth. A doula can provide you with valuable information regarding childbirth. The more informed you are, the less likely you are to be nervous about the process.
